Finnova reinforces its commitment to innovation at the II International Startup Congress in Seville

For the second consecutive year, the Finnova Foundation is present at the II International Startup Congress, which will be held from December 10 to 12 in Seville. This international benchmark event brings together more than 100 speakers and 40 countries represented, consolidating itself as an essential event for entrepreneurs, investors and leaders in the sector. Finnova’s presence reinforces its commitment to the development of innovative and sustainable projects that boost the competitiveness and growth of the startup ecosystem.

European funding opportunities for the startup community

In addition to presenting key initiatives such as INTERREG FIREPOCTEP+, CulturaldeTour, FU-TOURISM, Nextile Generation and Women4Tech, Finnova will promote one of its most prominent initiatives: the Startup Europe Awards (SEUA)

The presence of Juanma Revuelta, CEO of Finnova, together with Lola Bordás, CMO, and EU Project Managers Adrián Noheda and Jose Manuel Requena, will guarantee the active representation of the foundation in discussion panels, pitch sessions and networking meetings, promoting the exchange of ideas and the creation of new opportunities for collaboration.

The FU-TOURISM project, funded with €4 million by the EU’s Single Market Programme, seeks to boost the ecological and digital transition of 60 tourism SMEs in six European countries. CulturalDeTour, funded by Creative Europe, is a 6-month acceleration program for 30 startups and SMEs in sustainable cultural tourism from Spain, Greece and Slovenia. It offers workshops, mentoring, access to experts and networking, using the “Earth-Centered Design” methodology to drive innovation and digitalization in the sector. The project, led by Envolve Entrepreneurship, Finnova and Arctur, seeks to create a transnational network to strengthen the resilience of post-COVID-19 cultural tourism. NEXTEXTILGENERATION is an initiative promoted by the Finnova Foundation to promote innovative projects in the European textile sector. It facilitates the creation of strategic partnerships and creates opportunities for entrepreneurs who wish to contribute to the sustainable reindustrialisation of the textile sector in Europe. FIREPOCTEP+ is a project whose objective is to strengthen forest fire prevention and extinction systems in the cross-border region between Spain and Portugal known as La Raya. The project will explore in several presentations European funding sources for forest fire projects, innovative technological solutions in this area and finally, the 1st edition of the FIREPOCTEP+ photo-video competition and exhibition on forest fire prevention and extinction, adaptation and mitigation to climate change will be presented.

On the other hand, the European project RES4CITY will also have its space in the Congress, as it will be part of a symposium that will have proptech and the application of technologies to the real estate sector as its protagonist. In this case, RES4CITY will present its innovations in the decarbonisation of cities, and will also have the opportunity to present its Global Reach Hub, a network to bring stakeholders together, and the free platform RES4CITY BoostMySkills, to train the working population in the green transition.

Innovation and sustainability as key axes

With more than 300 million euros in mobilised capital, this congress is positioned as a strategic space to promote the financing of innovative projects focused on the fourth industrial revolution and innovation 4.0. Participating startups will have access to one-to-one meetings with investors, pitch sessions and discussions on current and future challenges in entrepreneurship.

The HIBA+ project will also be present at the II International Startup Congress in Seville. On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the HIBA+ Round Table on European funding programs and business analysis associated with development will take place, organized by the Finnova Foundation as the beneficiary of the project. It will feature the participation of Juan Manuel Revuelta, General Director of Finnova; Juan Francisco Delgado, Vice President of the INTEC Foundation; Carolina Romero, Project Advisor of the FUNDECYT Foundation; and Mariano Larrazabal, Manager of Bialar Agromarketing. With a budget of 2,845,222.77 euros, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Interreg VI-A Spain-Portugal Programme, HIBA+ seeks to promote innovation, sustainability and growth of the agri-food sector in the cross-border regions of Spain and Portugal.
