Finnova, as partner of the YOUROPE project “Joining Paths to Build a Better Perception of Europe”, framed in the Europe for Citizens program, has been part of the international meeting of members that has been held from 10 to 13 April in the municipality of Athienou (Cyprus).

The meeting was held through several debates between the members and various activities with European personalities such as the Head of the Office of the European Parliament in Cyprus, Andreas Kettis; from the city, Mayor Kyriacos Kareklas; experts such as Doctor in Sociology Michaelangelo Anastasiou and citizens such as the students of the Lyceum of Aradippou.

In the future, Finnova, as a Belgian partner, will host the final meeting in January 2020, which will make it possible to analyse the new European Parliament and the European situation regarding the Brexit.

On this occasion, the Director General of the Finnova Foundation, Juan Manuel Revuelta, has come along with Victor Medialdea, EU Projects Expert of the foundation, and has presented the methodology of the StartUp Europe Awards in the category Social Innovation, which seeks to generate new services through new technologies in order to improve welfare: quality of life, integration, collaborative economy …

The StartUp Europe Awards presents a public-private methodology for the identification of technologies that foster collaboration with public entities and implement them with the help of European funds such as the Economic Social Fund, the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund http://startupeuropeawards.eu/

The YOUROPE project is led by Altea (Spain) and has an international consortium with members from 6 other European countries: Belgium, Italy, Cyprus, Poland, Bulgaria and Slovenia. Its main objective is to contribute to the understanding of the functioning of the European Union and its policies, in order to raise awareness among young people, and the general public, about the role played by the European Union in their daily lives, through dialogue, diagnosis of the current situation and intercultural debate.

YOUROPE is a programme funded by the Europe for Citizens of the European Union programme and was approved by the European Agency for Culture, Education and Audiovisual, obtaining the second best rating.
