During two days of work and networking in Valletta, Finnova representatives joined the consortium meeting and the Malta Startup Festival, strengthening European cooperation in education, innovation, and 5G technology
Valletta (Malta), 24 October 2025. The Finnova Foundation took part on 22–23 October in the activities of the European Erasmus+ project 5G-DiGITs , held in Valletta (Malta). The visit included the project’s third consortium meeting and participation in the Malta Startup Festival, organised by Malta Enterprise.
Representing Finnova were Massimiliano Dragonni, Senior Former Head of Unit of Startup Europe and Blockchain, with over 30 years of experience as an EU official in innovation, technology transfer and entrepreneurship, currently based between Milan, Valencia and Brussels; and Yolanda Durán Piñero, European Project Communication Manager, leading the project’s communication and dissemination strategy (WP6).

The first day took place at the Valletta Design Cluster, where partners reviewed project progress, coordinated next steps, and explored new ways to integrate 5G technology and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) methodologies into education and training.

On the second day, partners attended the Malta Startup Festival at Montecristo Estate, where they presented the project to startups, accelerators, and tech companies from across Europe. During the event, Finnova representatives met the Honourable Silvio Schembri, Minister for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects of Malta, and discussed the role of European cooperation in innovation and digital education.

Finnova expressed its gratitude to Gonca Kara, Head of Projects & Ecosystems at A8, for her support and coordination during the activities, and to all consortium partners for their dedication and teamwork.

As the leader of Work Package 6 (WP6) on communication and dissemination, Finnova Foundation highlighted the importance of cross-border collaboration, knowledge transfer and European communication to strengthen digital education and drive the green transition.
Funded by the Erasmus+ Programme with a total budget of €1.7 million, 5G-DiGITs brings together 12 partners from 7 European countries to develop Problem-Based Learning (PBL) methodologies and real 5G case studies for Vocational and Higher Education institutions.

The 5G-DiGITs (Erasmus+) project aims to bring 5G technology closer to the educational sector through innovative Problem-Based Learning (PBL) methodologies. Its mission is to equip European students and educators with the skills required for digital and green transitions, connecting vocational and higher education with the demands of the labour market.
