- The Finnova Foundation will promote European projects that foster circular economy, international cooperation, and sustainable innovation in the textile sector during Spain’s leading fashion event
Brussels, 23 January 2026 — The Finnova Foundation will take part in MOMAD 2026, the International Trade Fair for Fashion, Footwear and Accessories, to be held from Thursday 5 to Saturday 7 February 2026 at IFEMA Madrid, with the aim of promoting innovation, European funding, and sustainability in the fashion industry. During the event, the foundation will seek to connect entrepreneurs, companies, and public administrations with European support and scaling opportunities in the fields of design and circular economy.
What is the event about?
MOMAD, considered Spain’s leading commercial event for the fashion sector, serves as a meeting point to create synergies between emerging talent, industry players, and European entities interested in accelerating the green transformation of the textile ecosystem.
The event brings together professionals from across the entire fashion value chain to present and discover new collections, trends, and brands, while fostering business opportunities among designers, manufacturers, distributors, and multi-brand retailers. MOMAD is structured around different thematic areas: Textile Apparel, Footwear and Accessories within the product area, and EGO (emerging design), Sustainable Experience (sustainable fashion), and MOMAD 4.0 (digital solutions for retail) within the content and concept areas. As such, MOMAD represents a key platform for innovation, digitalisation, and the ecological transition of the sector.
Within this framework, the Finnova Foundation will showcase two of its most representative projects in sustainability and innovation: AL-INVEST Verde Moda Sostenible and RAICES. Through these initiatives, the foundation will highlight how international cooperation and European funding can support the transition towards a greener, more inclusive, and more competitive fashion industry, encouraging the exchange of best practices between Europe and Latin America.
AL-INVEST Verde Moda Sostenible
The AL-INVEST Verde Moda Sostenible project is a key initiative of the European Union’s AL-INVEST Verde Programme, which supports small and medium-sized fashion enterprises (SMEs) in Latin America (Peru and Colombia). The project promotes sustainability, circular economy practices, and access to international markets by offering training, technical assistance, sustainability certifications, and by facilitating connections with Europe. All activities are aimed at reducing environmental impact and fostering ethical and circular practices within the fashion industry.
RAICES
RAICES, an acronym for Revitalisation of the Capacities of the Indigenous Artisan Collective for the Growth of Sustainable Entrepreneurship in Peru and Colombia, aims to strengthen the capacities of suppliers and VET (Vocational Education and Training) governing bodies in Peru and Colombia. The project seeks to improve the quality and relevance of vocational and non-formal training within the value chain of artisanal textile, footwear, and leather goods production, with a particular focus on women, young people, and indigenous communities. To achieve this, RAICES is based on an innovative strategy that combines ancestral knowledge with modern approaches to sustainability and digitalisation.
