Brussels, 24 April 2026 – The Finnova Foundation is organising the event “Digital & Green Skills for Europe: Innovation in 5G, digital skills and cybersecurity” in the framework of the European Youth Week 2026, an initiative led by the European Commission to promote youth participation and opportunities across Europe.

The event will bring together representatives from European institutions, technology experts, and leaders of EU-funded projects to address the development of digital and green skills as a key driver for Europe’s future labour market. With a strong focus on young people, the forum will explore how innovation, training, and employability can be better connected in the context of the twin digital and green transitions.

Among the speakers, Antonio López-Istúriz, Member of the European Parliament, will deliver a keynote speech on “New skills for a new world”, focusing on the challenges and opportunities linked to emerging skills in a rapidly evolving technological, geopolitical and social landscape.

Participants will share perspectives and practical experiences on workforce transformation, reskilling needs, and the role of education and innovation in shaping a resilient and sustainable European economy.

A programme focused on future skills

The agenda is structured around three thematic areas:

Digital innovation and connectivity, with the 5G-DiGITs project, focusing on 5G applications and their impact on European industry.

Reskilling for the green transition, through the LIFE RESSKILL project, supported by the LIFE Programme, with contributions from the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) and project partners.

Cybersecurity skills development, within the Erasmus CyberSkills project, addressing the growing demand for specialised digital skills.

Commitment to innovation and employability

This initiative reflects the commitment of the Finnova Foundation to fostering innovation, training, and employability by promoting European projects that equip citizens, young people, and businesses with the skills needed to face the challenges of the digital and green transitions, in line with EU priorities.

Event details

The event will take place in a hybrid format on Monday, 27 April 2026, from 15:00 to 17:00 (CEST), at Avenue des Arts 56, Brussels.
