- The session highlighted the importance of international cooperation in advancing ocean health through research, innovation and knowledge exchange.
The European project ONE-BLUE was presented during the EU Orientation Days on Calls for Proposals, organised by the Delegation of the European Union in Venezuela and held on 14 and 15 April 2026. This initiative aimed to strengthen the capacities of local organisations and facilitate access to practical information on European funding programmes.
The presentation of ONE-BLUE was delivered by Juan Viesca, European Funds Director at Finnova, and Juan Manuel Revuelta, CEO of Finnova, on behalf of the organisation as a project partner. During the session, they introduced ONE-BLUE as a European project focused on the study of emerging contaminants in marine ecosystems, while also highlighting its contribution to the advancement of research and international scientific cooperation.
Participation in these orientation days provided an opportunity to share a practical example of access to European funding and to demonstrate the potential of collaborative projects to address environmental challenges of global scope. In this context, ONE-BLUE was also presented as an example of the value of European Union-funded projects as drivers of innovation, collaboration and sustainability.
The event was particularly aimed at universities, research centres, civil society organisations, small and medium-sized enterprises, and business chambers. Over the course of the two-day programme, key topics included mapping funding opportunities, project design, the search for international partners, and the preparation of competitive proposals, with special attention given to strategic sectors such as the circular economy, water management, renewable energy, sustainable tourism and ocean preservation. With this participation, Finnova reinforces the international visibility of ONE-BLUE and the importance of strengthening ties between Europe and Latin America in areas such as research, innovation and sustainability. The presentation of the project in this context helped bring European cooperation opportunities closer to new stakeholders and highlighted the role of collaborative science in the protection of marine ecosystems.
