Proexca and the Delegation to the EU of the Chamber of Commerce of Spain receive 11 businesswomen and managers from Fuerteventura

  • The businesswomen have come to Brussels accompanied by María del Carmen Alonso, island councillor of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura.
  • Pilar Ruíz Huélamo, director of the EU Delegation of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce received the group of women.
  • The institutional and business visit is held in the framework of the European project 100 WOMEN PLUS, co-financed by the Erasmus+ program.

28/11/2023. This Tuesday November 28th started in Brussels the first day of 100 Women Plus EU Brussels Visitors Programme, a meeting organized by the Finnova Foundation (EU) and the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, with the support of PROEXCA, a public company attached to the presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands whose main objectives are to promote the internationalization of Canary Islands companies and attract strategic investments to the Islands.

The day began with a visit to the offices of the Sociedad Canaria de Fomento Económico S.A. (PROEXCA), where María José Castellano from PROEXCA and Idaira Robayna from EISMEA explained to the businesswomen the functions they carry out from their offices in Brussels. For their part, the group of women were able to present their business projects and their concerns and perspectives.

Afterwards, they visited the European Parliament where the businesswomen were able to familiarize themselves with the role of the European Union and, specifically, the importance of parliamentary activity. The day continued with a reception for the businesswomen by Pilar Ruíz Huélamo, Director of the EU Delegation of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce.

Pilar Ruiz explained the various possibilities supported by the Delegation of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce to the European Union such as funding for women entrepreneurs, support in business plans, guidance on the benefits of microcredit, among others. After her, María José Torres de Paz, Deputy Director of the Delegation before the EU of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, explained to the businesswomen the existing functions and procedures to support innovation and entrepreneurship.

The 11 women entrepreneurs were able to present their business projects, sharing and discussing their different perspectives. The visit ended with the intervention of Carla García, EU Project Manager of the Finnova Foundation, who explained the importance of being able to disseminate the 100 Women Plus project, and Juanma Revuelta, CEO of the Finnova Foundation, who presented the projects being developed within the framework of the European Union.

100 Women Plus EU Brussels Visitors Programme

A total of 11 businesswomen and managers of Fuerteventura accompanied by Maria del Carmen Alonso Saavedra, Island Councillor delegate for Accessibility, IT, new technologies, planning and strategic projects of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, have travelled to Brussels to attend a conference that combines sessions of exchange of experiences and institutional visits.  This meeting, focused on a training activity and exchange of experiences and cooperation, aims to bring women managers, businesswomen and women entrepreneurs of the island of Fuerteventura to European institutions, within the framework of the European project 100 Women plus, co-funded by the Erasmus + program.

 

About the 100 Women Plus project

100 Women Plus: Cooperation and understanding to promote women’s entrepreneurship and leadership, co-funded by the EU Erasmus+ program and led by Finnova, in collaboration with the Cabildo of Fuerteventura and the Founders Association, is a project in favor of cooperation and understanding to promote women’s entrepreneurship and leadership.

100 Women Plus, which has been designed to improve the channels of collaboration and dialogue, proposes a series of learning activities, exchange of experiences and transfer of results that will contribute to establish new mechanisms for female participation, strengthen the ecosystem of women entrepreneurs in the participating countries and create networks and generate alliances between institutions.
