CYBERSKILLS Project officially launched to train young Europeans in Cybersecurity

  • Co-funded by the Erasmus programme of the European Union, the initiative aims to bridge the cybersecurity skills gap and strengthen youth employability across Europe.
  • Led by Innovasur and implemented by a European consortium, the project will deliver innovative digital training combining e-learning, serious gaming and certification.

The CYBERSKILLS project has officially started, bringing together a European consortium committed to tackling one of the continent’s most urgent challenges: the shortage of qualified cybersecurity professionals. Co-funded by the Erasmus programme of the European Union, the initiative will train at least 300 young people aged 18 to 30, particularly from peripheral and underrepresented regions, equipping them with in-demand cybersecurity skills and facilitating their access to the labour market.

As cyber threats continue to grow in scale and complexity, European companies and public institutions face increasing pressure to secure their digital environments. However, the lack of skilled professionals remains a critical bottleneck. CYBERSKILLS will respond to this challenge by providing structured, accessible and industry-oriented training pathways, while promoting collaboration between educational institutions, technology companies and key stakeholders.

The project will implement different key actions. These include outreach and recruitment of participants through educational institutions; assessment of cybersecurity competences and development of a tailored curriculum; design of a comprehensive training programme through the creation of an interactive e-learning platform incorporating a cybersecurity serious game; pilot testing activities; and the standardisation of a certification framework. The programme will also include in-person practical workshops and a data-driven evaluation process to measure its impact on participants’ employability.

CYBERSKILLS is expected to deliver tangible results, including a fully operational e-learning platform, an interactive cybersecurity serious game, detailed evaluation reports and updated curricula, as well as a robust certification system. Beyond these outputs, the project aims to generate long-term impact by strengthening youth employability, enhancing cybersecurity competences, reinforcing cooperation between industry and education, and establishing a sustainable and scalable training model.

The project is coordinated by Innovasur – Innovaciones Tecnológicas del Sur (Spain) and implemented in partnership with Vision Tree Psychology and Technology Education Center (Belgium), PRIVACT P.C. (Greece), GRUPO CONSULE (Spain) and Finnova foundation (Belgium). Together, the consortium combines expertise in technological innovation, cybersecurity, education, training and European project management to ensure the successful implementation and long-term impact of CYBERSKILLS across Europe.
