StartUp Europe Awards 2019 edition has extended the call for StartUp Europe Awards Country Managers

Country Managers 20 mayo

The call will now be open until 20th May, and registration can be made online here

Brussels, 13.05.2019. Following the successful second edition of StartUp Europe Awards in 2018, “The Eurovision for Startups” is already planning its third edition for 2019. StartUp Europe Awards is an initiative of the European Commission (Startup Europe), together with Finnova Foundation, which presents a methodology to encourage open innovation and collaboration between the different actors of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, through the private-public partnership to support entrepreneurs.

StartUp Europe Awards (SEUA) creates a network of contacts that will inspire and provided visibility to all the local startups so that, by using this network, they can scale their services and products at a global level.

SEUA will recognize the effort of European startups in 22 categories and 4 levels: Local, Province, Regional and National. Deadline for registrations for Country Managers will be 20th May, and the European finals will take place foreseeably for the last week of November on. Country Managers will be supported by Finnova’s team to develop the competitions and will sign a collaboration agreement with Finnova.

Country Managers are relevant figures in the European entrepreneurial ecosystem that seek to help the organisation of the StartUp Europe Awards at a Country level: they organise contests in their respective country, generating the pool of winners (1 per category) for the European final. This means that StartUp Europe Awards Country Managers are as important as other pieces in this puzzle. The following 22 categories will be launched for this edition, and it is up to each Country Manager to choose, after a competition, the ones that suits them best, and they can be as many as wished: Social, Gastronomy, E-Health, EdTech, Water, Energy, Smart Cities, Circular Economy, Climate, Firefighting, GovTech, Agritech, Fintech, Creative, Tourism, Internet of Things, Green, Legal, Space, Cybersecurity, Mobility and Proptech (this category is globally managed by EU Proptech House).

Meeting the United Nations Social Development Goals

The StartUp Europe Awards 2019 will attempt to take into account the United Nations Social Development Goals (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/sustainable-development-goals/); this implies that some categories will be related to one or various goals. Therefore, in the criteria of evaluation of these categories it will now count how the startup is contributing to the steps set by the UN.

StartUp Europe Awards is also a tool to improve the awareness and communication of entrepreneurship values. The initiative is promoted by the European Commission and supported by the President of the Committee of the Regions, several members of the European Parliament as Ambassador and it is implemented by Finnova Foundation in collaboration with StartUp Europe.

StartUp Europe Awards creates an Alliance gathering the organisers of startup awards (accelerators, incubators, universities, startup communities leaders, foundations and businesses angels associations, etc) all around Europe and beyond, being a forum for the interchange of best practices and networking amongst all the players involved in the European ecosystem.
