FINNOVA attends the central event of the EU GREEN WEEK 2024 at the headquarters of the European Commission in Brussels

  • EU GREEN WEEK 2024 has brought together experts and leaders to discuss the actions needed to increase water resilience in the EU 

Brussels, May 30th, 2024. Finnova Foundation has attended on May 29th and 30th the central conference of the Eu Green Week at the headquarters of the European Commission in Brussels (Belgium). This event has brought together the main European stakeholders in sustainability and environment, with emphasis on the management and protection of water resources, which is the central theme of the Eu Green Week 2024. The EU Green Week is an annual event organized by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Environment that provides a space to raise awareness, promote and discuss European environmental policy.   

Finnova has attended this event thanks to its commitment to initiatives that protect the environment and thanks to the projects in which it is a partner that focus its activity on the preservation and management of water. The Foundation will be actively involved in this Commission initiative, as evidenced by the three Foundation events that are part of the associated events of the EU Green Week. 

LIFE ECOdigestion 2.0 has organized this morning the webinar “Water resilience through European projects”, a space in which initiatives that promote water resilience through advanced technologies have been presented and discussed how European projects can support environmental protection, sustainability and innovation in this field.    

The ONE-BLUE project will organize next Thursday, June 6 at 10:00 (CEST) the online seminar “ONE-BLUE: Synergies for the protection of the oceans and the marine environment“. This meeting will serve as a presentation of ONE-BLUE to stakeholders, while projects aligned with the European mission “Restore our ocean and waters” will be presented.   

Finally, next Tuesday, June 18, the LIFE NextFUMIGREEN event “New Toxic-Free Agriculture” will be held in Almeria (Andalusia). The event will address the benefits of the use of natural biopesticides for the environment and health.

About LIFE ECOdigestion 2.0  

With a budget of more than 970,000 euros, the LIFE program project generates biogas in sewage treatment plant digesters by mixing putrescible organic waste (slurry, poultry, organic fractions, MSW, horeca, etc.), transforming sewage sludge into green energy through technology.  

About ONE-BLUE   

ONE-BLUE is a research initiative funded by the Horizon Europe program of the European Union. With a budget of more than €6,200,000, ONE-BLUE focuses on research into the impact of emerging pollutants and the effects of climate change on marine biodiversity, contributing to the understanding and preservation of our aquatic ecosystems 

About LIFE NextFUMIGREEN  

LIFE NextFUMIGREEN is a European project that seeks to develop natural fumigants from plant extracts to control whitefly populations and fungal outbreaks of botrytis in horticultural greenhouse crops. The project, led by FumiHogar, in collaboration with B&B Asesores, Comercial Química Massó, BrioAgro Tech and Finnova Foundation, and 60% funded by the European Union’s LIFE program, will last four and a half years and will test the efficacy of a new fumigant biopesticide that is less toxic than conventional ones. With a total budget of 2,758,921.01 euros, this project aims to improve food safety and biodiversity and contribute to the professionalization of farmers in the use of biopesticides.
