–            The online event, led by Finnova Foundation in collaboration with the ONE-BLUE consortium, will bring together European experts and research projects to discuss advances in detecting and monitoring Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs) in aquatic environments

  • Held in the framework of the International Day against Climate Change and registered under the European Maritime Day In My Country 2025 initiative

Brussels, 17 October 2025. The Finnova Foundation, as communication and dissemination partner of the Horizon Europe project ONE-BLUE, is organising the online scientific webinar “Analysis of Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs) in Environmental Matrices”, which will take place on Friday, 24 October 2025, from 10:00 to 12:00 CEST.

The event will be held in the framework of the International Day against Climate Change and has been officially registered under the European Maritime Day in My Country 2025 initiative.

The session will gather scientists, policymakers, and representatives of EU-funded projects to discuss the latest research and methodologies in analysing, monitoring, and mitigating emerging pollutants in aquatic ecosystems.

Connecting science, policy, and innovation

The event will be moderated by Juan Manuel Revuelta, CEO of the Finnova Foundation, and will open with a scientific presentation by Prof. Marinella Farré, Research Scientist at IDAEA-CSIC (Spain), who will introduce the objectives, methodology, and research activities of the ONE-BLUE project on the detection and environmental impact of Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs).

The session will also feature contributions from several EU-funded initiatives working on related fields, including CONTRAST, iMERMAID, JOINABLE, and LABPLAS, which address key aspects such as chemical risk assessment tools, circular economy approaches for aquatic waste, and advanced analytical techniques for micro- and nanoplastics detection.

A final discussion panel will include Steven Brooks, Senior Researcher within the Ecotoxicology and Risk Assessment Team at NIVA (Norwegian Institute for Water Research), together with representatives of all participating projects.
