Last week, FINNOVA attended one of the biggest tech-entrepreneurial events in Europe: Startup Olé. This is an event that took place in Salamanca between 26 and 28 March 2019. It is aimed at promoting business, disseminating information and educating the national industry on the various trends, solutions, uses, applications and technological developments in various areas. It brought together protagonists of the entrepreneurial ecosystem both in Europe and the rest of the world to connect startups, spin-offs, innovative SMEs, investors, large companies, accelerators, public administrations, universities and the media.
Particularly, FINNOVA through its stand EU Funding Helpdesk identified legal and administrative barriers to innovation among the attendees as well as fostered and promoted international cooperation and EU funding opportunities dedicated to modernization and the transfer of new technologies. Its activity is directed to sustainable development, environmental sustainability, energy efficiency and renewable energy, water, information technology and smart tourism. Moreover, FINNOVA is the European Foundation dedicated to the funding of innovation at both regional and municipal levels and is highly committed to training and entrepreneurship.
This edition brought new features such as a vertical emergency, focusing especially on those technologies that can serve to address social and humanitarian crises. In other words, in cases such as the current migratory crisis (maritime rescue and rescue, as well as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, etc.). Energy and sustainability were some of the most important sections of the event, as well as the implementation of specific activities for investors, administrations and large corporations.
The 2019 edition was the fifth. Since it was inaugurated, it has been gaining importance until becoming what it is today: one of the most important events on technological entrepreneurship at a European level. Emilio Corchado, CEO of Startup OLÉ, together with the sponsors and collaborators of the event were in charge of making the presentation together with the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sanchez.
