Finnova organizes a webinar on sustainability challenges in Bogotá and European best practices

  • The online event, which will take place next Tuesday, June 11 at 4:00 p.m. Spanish time (9:00 a.m. Colombia time), has the collaboration of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce.
  • It is held within the framework of the project Strengthening competitiveness in Bogotá through the promotion of the circular economy of the EU’s Green AL-INVEST Program, executed by Finnova, the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce and the Corporate Environmental Corporation (CAEM).
  • The webinar seeks to share the results of a study on the challenges in sustainability in Bogota, and to present some European good practices that respond to or can be solutions to the challenges in Bogota.

Brussels — The Finnova Foundation is organising, next Tuesday, June 11 at 16:00 Spanish time (9:00 AM Colombia time), in collaboration with the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, a webinar to address sustainability challenges in Bogotá and present European good practices. The event is held within the framework of the Project “Strengthening competitiveness in Bogotá through the promotion of the circular economy” of the European Union’s AL-INVEST Green Program, which is executed by the two organizations and the Corporate Environmental Corporation (CAEM).

The project “Strengthening competitiveness in Bogotá through the promotion of the circular economy” seeks to promote knowledge, competencies and skills with the aim that more than 300 MSMEs in Bogotá know and integrate sustainability practices. In this project, Finnova has worked on the characterization of the factors that affect the demand for sustainable products and services in Bogotá, through the analysis of secondary information and interviews with experts from academia, business, unions, the public sector, international cooperation, among other actors. The study identified some of the most relevant and key challenges to promote the demand for sustainable products in Bogota, and some European good practices that have addressed these types of challenges from different angles.

The webinar will disseminate these results, and will dedicate a space to the presentation of European good practices told by their own protagonists. In the first block, Sustainability in Bogota. B corporations, María Angélica Castellanos, coordinator of the AL-INVEST Verde project, will talk about strengthening the capacities of MSMEs in Bogotá for the circular economy. After her, Daniel Truran, director of ebbf – ethical business building the future, will explain the use of business, and especially Bcorps, as a force for good, through different success stories. The block will end with the presentation of the study “Sustainability Challenges in Bogotá”, by Janys Saavedra, from Finnova.

The second block, European Good Practices in Sustainability, will start with a presentation by Michel Lapierre, LATAM Director at Finnova, who will explain the selection and tools of European good practices. Juanma Revuelta, CEO of Finnova, will present the ECOBUS project, a successful experience of public procurement as an element for innovation and circularity. Jesús Blay, Area Manager of Jeanología, a circular textile company, will explain a good practice and success story in the textile sector. The event will conclude with a Q&A session.
