The Finnova Foundation has presented the RES4CITY project at the Greencities and S-Moving fair in Málaga, which focuses on the decarbonization of cities and the upskilling of workforce for the green transition. Finnova presented This initiative through an event in which he explained the lessons learned after two years of the project, the micro-credentialing program that RES4CITY will launch in the coming months and attended the fair’s attendees.

On the first day, Finnova organized the hybrid event “RES4CITY: DECARBONIZATION OF CITIES AND CONCLUSIONS FOR LATIN AMERICA,” in which the main lines of action of the project over these two years were presented. David McLoughlin, project leader and representative from Maynooth University, introduced the micro-credential program that will be launched in the upcoming months. These micro-credentials will upskill the workforce for the green transition.

Additionally, Jon Larrachea, communication manager for Finnova and RES4CITY, presented the initiative RES4CITY STARTUP EUROPE ACCELERATHON. This is an accelerator for sustainable ideas that seeks disruptive proposals that can be carried out through European funding. Larrachea presented the final of this initiative, which will take place next Tuesday, October 8, in Brussels (Belgium), and introduced the four finalists from which the winning team will be chosen.

In the third panel of the afternoon, a delegation of Colombian mayors explained the situation facing environmental projects in their regions. Alexander Bravo, mayor of Útica, Santiago Diza, mayor of San Carlos, and Juan David Casas, planning secretary of Bello, shared the initiatives being undertaken by their municipalities and other local actors to take the lead on environmental matters, implementing policies that allow for the rational use of their natural resources. Finally, Jaime Almanza, general director of Fundagedescol, analyzed the conclusions drawn from RES4CITY to export them to Latin America.

Second Day, RES4CITY Stand

On the second day of the fair, the Finnova Foundation had the opportunity to have a stand where we could explain to attendees the main activities of the project. Our team addressed questions from those present and resolved any inquiries that arose throughout the day, in addition to presenting the Global Reach Hub, a global network of public and private agents who collaborate, share knowledge, and promote the reduction of net greenhouse gas emissions to zero.
