International Youth Day: Finnova, more than a decade committed to young talent

  • More than 500 young people have been trained through different programmes.
  • The foundation has a long history supporting numerous public entities in the creation of its own mobility programmes.

Every 12 August, International Youth Day is celebrated to highlight the importance of youth participation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and to strengthen intergenerational solidarity. In order to contribute to the support of this population after the negative impact of Covid-19, the European Union has called 2022 The European Year of Youth, an initiative that Finnova welcomes and promotes in each of its activities.

A commitment to young talent

Tackling the scourge of youth unemployment is one of the Foundation’s priorities. The CEO, Juan Manuel Revuelta, points out that “almost 3 million Europeans between 15 and 24 years old have not been able to join the labour market in the last year, a figure that reaches 16.8% of young people. For this reason, Finnova promotes mobility programmes, training in European affairs, initiatives and projects that allow this population to advance, integrating European values and building not only the future, but also the present.”

Under this premise, the entity has been dedicated to training young talent from all continents for more than a decade. From 2010 to date, more than 500 young people have had the opportunity to learn in the foundation’s offices based in the heart of Europe and Spain through the NextalentGeneration programme.

Collaboration with public and private entities is one of the fundamental pillars of the foundation’s support for young people. Through dissemination days on mobility opportunities, as well as meetings aimed at the authorities, this entity raises awareness of the importance of an international and professional European experience in these generations. To complement this professional experience, Finnova manages the training platform “EU TRAINING PLATFORM” through which it offers courses on European institutions and project funding tools inside and outside the European Union. An example of these European funds, in which Finnova has a wide experience, is the LIFE environment programme whose 30th anniversary is this 2022.

Moving forward Europe and the 2030 Agenda

The foundation is committed to the involvement of young people in the political and social life of Europe through projects of the ERASMUS+ programme that it implements. MOV-EU, OPORTUNITATS-UE aims to integrate young people into European political life. Likewise, other projects such as DESTINE address inclusion as a key pillar in this generation.

In addition, Finnova’s interest in training on Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda is demonstrated in the YOU & EU and BRIDGE 2030 projects. Both set up activities that motivate young people to participate in local political life, integrating sustainability and European vision.

International Mobility Programmes

Thanks to the mobility programmes promoted by Finnova such as Talentium Jaén, the Dipu te Eurobeca, the Plan Hebe: Eurobecas or Genius de Tarragona, the young people have made a high-performance stay of between 5 and 7 months in institutions such as the Departments of Employment, Education and Culture of the Spanish Embassy, KIC Innoenergy, embassies around the world, Microsoft, the CEOE, the UNED or the EFE news agency, among many others, and have had the continuous support of the Finnova office in Brussels through individual mentoring to develop the projects of the scholarship holders according to their professional concerns.

The foundation will remain committed to the training of young people, providing them with the experience and knowledge they need to develop their skills and competencies in the working environment to which they aspire. In addition, they are provided with tools that will enable them to face the challenges of the world they have yet to discover, deconstruct and reconstruct, as indispensable agents of change.
