CILIFO, the “Iberian Center for the Investigation and Fighting of Forest Fires”, through the Finnova Foundation, has won the European Enterprise Promotion Awards (EEPA) among the Spanish competitors. CILIFO will represent Spain at the European level as a finalist in the category 4 – “Supporting the Internationalisation of Business”. The final ceremony will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, in the city of Pórtórósh, in Slovenia.
CILIFO is a project funded by the Interreg Program POCTEP Spain-Portugal 2014-2020, in which the Finnova Foundation is implementing the first European accelerator/incubator focused on forest fires, called “Firefighting Open Innovation Lab – CILIFO”. Currently, this accelerator/ incubator has 34 accelerated entities in Europe, and has published a “Catalog of Innovative Solutions” in prevention and extinction of forest fires, adaptation and mitigation to climate change.
The CILIFO project has a total budget of 24.6 Million euro. Being CILIFO the Interreg project in the field of forest fire prevention and extinction with the largest European Union budget in the more than 30-year history of European Territorial Cooperation. This project is led by the Junta de Andalucía, Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Sustainable Development.
