  • With a budget of 372,424.72 euros, the initiative aims to strengthen the textile industry in Peru and Colombia.
  • Promoting job creation through the low-carbon economy is one of the key objectives of the strategy.

29.05.24. – Brussels, Belgium — The Finnova Foundation leads the new AL INVEST Verde project focused on the fashion sector, a strategic initiative that aims to promote the sustainable development and internationalization of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the fashion sector in Peru and Colombia. The project will be developed in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá and the Fashion Cluster of Peru

This AL INVEST Verde project is designed with clear and ambitious goals to strengthen the fashion industry in both countries, specifically in Lima and/or ICA (Peru) and in Bogotá and 59 municipalities in the department of Cundinamarca (Colombia). Through active collaboration between various entities, the aim is to positively transform the business landscape over a period of 20 months.

With a total cost of 372,424.72 euros, the aim is to develop the sustainable capacities of more than 300 MSMEs in the processes necessary to obtain sustainability certifications and seals. In addition, these companies’ access to international markets, especially in Europe, will be facilitated through sustainable and responsible practices.

As an additional result, the project focused on sustainable fashion will provide personalized advice to at least 30 MSMEs in the textile sector, helping them close gaps and comply with sustainable certification standards, enhancing their competitiveness and presence in global markets.

Collaboration & Partnerships

The success of AL INVEST Verde is based on the active collaboration between trade and sectoral entities, as well as the support of academic and government institutions to strengthen training and regulation in textile sustainability. Finnova, the Sustainable Fashion Cluster and the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce are key allies in this initiative. At least 300 MSMEs are expected to acquire solid knowledge on certification and sustainability processes, which will allow them to compete on a level playing field in international markets and open up new business opportunities.

The 30 selected MSMEs will receive personalized advice to close gaps and achieve certification standards. Their access to international markets, especially in Europe, will be strengthened, benefiting both individual companies and the sustainable growth of the entire industry.
