- Merida has gathered on May 8th and 9th top-level executives and stakeholders responsible for the development of expansion strategies of major brands in Connected Electric Vehicles
- Finnova demonstrates its commitment to electric mobility and initiatives advocating for decarbonization
Finnova has attended Mérida (Extremadura) as an entity committed to electric mobility to present its initiatives in this field within the I International Forum on Electric Mobility. The event brought together top-level executives and stakeholders responsible for the development of expansion strategies of major brands in Connected Electric Vehicles.
Juanma Revuelta, CEO of the Foundation, attended as a representative of the organization. Revuelta’s intervention focused on the European projects and initiatives supported by the entity in this area, projects formed by international partnerships that offer innovative solutions in sustainable mobility and circularity.
Revuelta presented the RES4CITY project, which aims to improve the development of sustainable renewable energies and fuel technologies in cities by promoting sustainability and circularity. Within this project, the RES4CITY STARTUP EUROPE ACCELERATHON initiative is framed, which proposes several solutions to challenges related to land management, hydrogen production, greywater reuse, and optimization in electric vehicle charging.
Precisely, the latter challenge has focused on the first part of the exhibition, a challenge posed by the need for a transition to sustainable energy practices. The proposed solutions for this challenge address the problem from three perspectives: platform availability, integration of communication and information technologies into electrical infrastructures, and the establishment of legal frameworks supporting sustainable growth. On the other hand, the challenge of green hydrogen production has also been presented as a method to promote sustainable mobility.
Additionally, related to RES4CITY, an example of a possible scalable initiative, the RESKILL project, has been presented. This project would receive funding from the LIFE program and would use the results of RES4CITY to advance the digitalization of energy systems and improve continuous education and professional training.
Furthermore, Finnova’s CEO presented the LIFE ECOdigestion 2.0 project, which generates biogas in wastewater digesters by mixing putrescible organic waste, as another project with scalability potential to other future initiatives. In this case, it has been proposed to transfer the results of the biogas generation project to others where biogas can be integrated as a solution to create hybrid vehicles that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
To conclude his presentation, Revuelta presented the FU-TOURISM project as an example of reducing the carbon footprint associated with tourist mobility. FU-TOURISM is funded by the COSME program and has a budget of 4 million euros.
Finnova, an example of entrepreneurship
“The foundation specializes in launching challenges where innovative solutions emerge; we have been supporting projects from LIFE and HORIZON programs for over a decade, which focus on financing these solutions,” emphasized Revuelta in his speech. Finnova, as mentioned in this article, has several challenges within the framework of sustainable mobility that contribute to decarbonization in cities, and organizes the SMoving Startup Europe Awards that recognize initiatives proposing solutions promoting sustainable mobility.
These awards reward startups that provide innovative solutions to the challenges of ecological transition in sustainable mobility, energy efficiency, and the fight against climate change. The next edition will take place on September 24th and 25th, within the framework of the Greencities and S-Moving Fair at FYCMA.
