The teacher academy of the ‘EduDemoS’ project launches in Gran Canaria

  • A key event for teacher training and the implementation of classroom innovations
  • The event marks the beginning of the project’s workshops and multiplier activities

November 12, 2024, Brussels. The EduDemoS project held its Teacher Academy on October 24th and 25th, focusing on teacher training in innovative technologies and sustainability. This event, held at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain), was a space for exchange and learning in which the Finnova Foundation participated through Adrián Noheda, project manager; the Gerda Stetter Foundation (Germany), project leader; representatives from the Sergio Alonso Foundation; and teachers from the partner schools of the project: IES El Rincón (Spain) and St. Gallen (Switzerland). Additionally, teachers from IES Luis Vives (Madrid) and CIFP Majara Marcial (Fuerteventura) also participated in the workshops.

During the event, participants had the opportunity to work with educational demonstrators developed within the EduDemoS project, gaining skills ranging from mechanical assembly to programming technological prototypes. The training focused on equipping teachers with innovative tools of high pedagogical value, aligned with Finnova’s goal of promoting modern education connected to the European context.

GBS St. Gallen, a project partner, led a workshop on IoT (Internet of Things) to prepare teachers for the future interconnection of demonstrators, an important step toward a digitized and cohesive educational model. This learning was crucial in facilitating a deep understanding of emerging technologies and their application in educational settings. A Makeathon was held simultaneously, a collaborative initiative to develop sustainable technological solutions in real time, promoting hands-on learning in an open innovation environment.

The Foundation participated in a transnational meeting of the project where the next strategic steps were defined. Among the established priorities were the organization of new training workshops and multiplier events in various European cities, essential to expanding the project’s international impact.

Next Steps and International Expansion of EduDemoS

The EduDemoS project, funded by the Erasmus+ program, will continue its international expansion in the coming months. Events are planned for Brussels and other European cities, including workshops and outreach activities to multiply the project’s educational impact. This initiative has a multi-million-euro budget and is supported by a network of strategic partners across Europe, committed to building an educational system that equips young people with digital and sustainable skills.
