Closure of the 10th World Water Forum with the participation of the Finnova Foundation in various presentations.

  • Finnova presented in this forum held in Bali (Indonesia) its initiatives related to the protection and management of water.
  • The presence of the foundation in this type of events confirms the good work of our work in the areas related to sustainability and environmental protection.

28/05/2024, Brussels. Last Saturday, 25th of May, the X World Water Forum held in Bali (Indonesia) ended, an event in which the Foundation presented its projects related to water management and protection. During the week that the forum lasted, Finnova shared space with more than 30 thousand world leaders, representatives of international organizations, experts, academics, businesspeople and economists from all over the world.

Finnova presented in this forum its main initiatives and activities within the Spain Pavilion belonging to ICEX. Among the interventions made by the Foundation, the presentation of the Water for Tourism Challenges, an initiative that seeks to accelerate solutions to a series of challenges in the field of water that are related to the development of sustainable tourism.

These challenges aim to respond to four problems that arise in the sector: the reuse of gray water, the promotion of agrotourism, the application of circular solutions to water and efficient water management in the hospitality industry and energy efficiency in hotels. The challenges posed by Finnova are framed in the European Agenda for Tourism 2030, the EU tool to work for a greener, digital and resilient tourism ecosystem and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

The development of solutions to these challenges will be given through the methodology of open innovation StartUp Europe Awards, which seeks to identify innovative ideas or projects that are transformed into European projects with access to funding in programs such as INTERREG NEXT MED, LIFE and HORIZON, among others. In addition to the Foundation’s own methodology, Juanma Revuelta, CEO of Finnova, used his speech to demonstrate the Foundation’s commitment to projects that focus on water and waste management, such as LIFE ECODigestion 2.0, or the green and digital transition in tourism, such as FU-TOURISM.

Juan Viesca, Finnova’s Director of European Funds, was in charge of presenting the different actions of our entity in terms of European funding for innovation related to water. To do this, he presented the work done by the foundation as a partner in LIFE projects (LIFE ECOdigestion and LIFE COSTAdapta) and Horizon (RES4CITY), and took the opportunity to present the Urban WATER Startup Europe Awards, to promote entrepreneurs and SMEs that address the challenges of graywater reuse and waste minimization in cities. Finally, it should be noted that the project funded by the Horizon ONE-BLUE program was also present at the Foundation’s stand in Bali.

The presence at this forum allowed Finnova to establish synergies with ministers, delegations and other stakeholders related to the protection and efficient management of water. These positive synergies reaffirm the good work of the foundation and its strong commitment to sustainability and environmental protection.

About LIFE ECODIGESTION 2.0

It is a demonstrative pilot project, financed by the LIFE program, that generates biogas in water treatment plant digesters by mixing putrescible organic waste (slurry, poultry, organic fractions, MSW, horeca, etc.), in a way that allows transforming sludge from wastewater treatment plants into green energy through technology. The initiative led by Global Omnium, (Spain), in collaboration with the Finnova Foundation (Belgium) and Águas do Centro Litoral (Portugal) aims to become the most versatile digestion control tool on the market by achieving environmental and economic benefits by producing biogas through optimal waste exploitation.
