International Mother Earth Day 2025: The Finnova Foundation Reaffirms its Commitment to Sustainability and Climate Action

  • International Mother Earth Day reminds us of the importance of caring for and preserving our planet and the ecosystems that support the forms of life inhabiting it.
  • Finnova is committed to sustainable development and innovation by participating in European projects that align with the fight against climate change.

Brussels, April 22, 2025. Every April 22 marks Earth Day, a date to remember the importance of caring for and preserving our planet, as well as the ecosystems that sustain the existing forms of life on it. This day invites us to reflect on the importance of protecting the different ecosystems of the planet and the dangers that accelerate climate change.

International Mother Earth Day is an opportunity to raise awareness among the population about the urgency of taking measures to combat climate change, restore damaged ecosystems, and promote a more sustainable economy. It is essential to change our lifestyles to live in harmony with our planet.

The Finnova Foundation is committed to sustainable development and innovation. We facilitate initiatives, resources, and EU programs to the public and private sectors, focusing on projects aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The Finnova Foundation participates in various European projects that promote sustainability and environmental protection, aligning with the objectives of Mother Earth Day. Among them are four projects from the LIFE program, the EU’s funding instrument for biodiversity protection and climate action.

First, there is LIFE COSTAdapta, which protects the coast of Gran Canaria against climate change through natural solutions such as reefs and tidal pools; it has a budget of €3.4 million and a duration of 7 years.

We also have LIFE NextFUMIGREEN, with a budget of €2.76 million and a duration of 4 and a half years, which develops natural fumigants to replace chemical pesticides in crops.

LIFE ECOdigestion 2.0 promotes biogas generation from organic waste in wastewater treatment plants, with a budget of €970,000 and a duration of 5 years.

Finally, we are partners in the RESSKILL project, a 3-year initiative that will train professionals with a specific focus on the integration of energy systems and the digitalization of buildings and districts. The project will develop micro-credentials that provide tangible validation to students, ensuring that these courses align with industry standards. This initiative has a budget of €1.5 million.

Regarding Horizon Europe, RES4CITY promotes the use of renewable energy in cities through free and inclusive training; it has a budget of €2.5 million and a duration of 36 months. Meanwhile, ONE-BLUE studies the impact of emerging pollutants and climate change on marine biodiversity, with a budget of €6.2 million and a duration of 3 and a half years.

Regarding INTERREG program, the HIBA+ project promotes the sustainable digitalization of the Hispano-Portuguese agri-food sector through innovation hubs, with a budget of €2.8 million and a duration of 3 years.
