- Representatives from the European Commission, the Island Council of Gran Canaria, Fundación Sergio Alonso, ITQ, Finnova and educational institutions from Spain and Switzerland will share practices and projects on sustainability in schools
Finnova Foundation is co-organising the international webinar of the European project EduDemoS, scheduled for Tuesday, 10 June 2025, from 11:00 to 13:00 CEST. The online session, free of charge, will bring together institutional representatives, clean energy experts and educational actors to share real-world experiences aimed at advancing more sustainable education across Europe.
The event will open with a welcome address by Juanma Revuelta, CEO of Finnova, who will highlight the key role of EU funding in transforming the education system. He will then introduce a series of high-level institutional speakers.
The first keynote speech will be delivered by Andriana Sukova, Deputy Director-General at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion (DG EMPL). Sukova will offer a perspective on the future of employment in the context of the green transition, emphasising the importance of EU funds, professional reskilling, and preparing young people for emerging challenges and opportunities.
She will be followed by Paula Rey García, Head of Unit at the Directorate-General for Energy (DG ENER), who will focus her intervention on the links between renewable energy policy, system integration, and the educational field, highlighting the European Commission’s role in this connection.
From a regional standpoint, Raúl García Brink, from the Island Council of Gran Canaria, will present how educational sustainability is being promoted within the island context, which serves as the central geographical focus of EduDemoS, also implemented in Switzerland, Belgium and Germany.
Throughout the webinar, participants will hear about real-life sustainability initiatives implemented in schools, a technological perspective from Dr. Rainer Stetter (ITQ), and a panel discussion on European projects including:
- 5G-DIGITs, focusing on digitalisation and sustainability in education.
- RESSKILL, aimed at training for the green transition.
- Best practices from IES El Rincón, presented by its director, Alejandro García.
The main project presentation will be delivered by Nayra Moreno, Director of Fundación Sergio Alonso, who will outline the goals and progress of EduDemoS, including the development of innovative demonstrators for solar, wind, and hydropower adapted to educational environments.
The event will close with remarks by Juanma Revuelta, who, in addition to underlining the importance of EU funding for sustainable education, will introduce upcoming opportunities such as future Erasmus+ calls in Vocational Education and Training (VET) and international collaboration with Latin American countries.

About EduDemoS
EduDemoS has a total budget of €250,000 and a duration of 21 months. Led by the German foundation Technik macht Spaß – Gerda Stetter Stiftung, in partnership with Finnova, Fundación Sergio Alonso, IES El Rincón, and GBS St. Gallen, the project promotes digital and environmental skills through the construction of small-scale wind turbines and systems for capturing solar and water energy. These will be documented in practical guides to ensure the replicability of models in other schools.
