The HIBA+ project promotes agri-food digitalisation at the II International Congress of Start-ups in Seville

International experts from Finnova, FUNDECYT, ROPTECH Urban Farming, and Agrobialar explore new ways to promote sustainability in the agricultural sector through European funds.

Seville, 17 December 2024 – On Wednesday, 11 December, 2024, Seville hosted the round table organised by the Finnova Foundation with the aim of deepening European funding programmes and business analysis associated with development. The event took place at the II International Congress of Start-ups in Seville, organised from December 10 to 12, 2024. FUNDECYT and Finnova, beneficiary entities of the HIBA+ project and Agrobialar, shared their experience and knowledge in this area within the framework of cross-border cooperation between Spain and Portugal.

In this session, which took place between 11:00 and 12:00 on Wednesday, 11 December, the attendees included professionals and companies interested in advancing sustainability in the agricultural sector. Through their participation, they were able to learn more about the main funding opportunities and strategies to promote digitalisation in the agri-food value chain.

Juan Manuel Revuelta, general director of the Finnova Foundation; Beatriz Tomé, Project Advisor of the FUNDECYT Foundation; Sam Guttman, PROPTECH Urban Farming; and Mariano Larrazabal, manager of Agromarketing Bialar were the experts who contributed to the development of this exchange. Each one, from the particularities of their field of work, offered a diverse and innovative dialogue table on accessing European funds and learning about innovative solutions to improve productivity and sustainability in the agricultural sector.

Achieving greater efficiency in energy costs and the fundamental role of digitalisation were some of the key points emphasised by Juan Manuel Revuelta. From the perspective of a non-profit public entity, Beatriz Tomé underlined the wide range of situations happening within the sector, including small businesses and their needs. While Sam Guttman contributed some ideas focused on investment from an international perspective, Mariano Larrazabal enriched the debate from a marketing background and the importance of different funding programmes and good practices being effectively communicated among the target audience.
