European Green Week 2017 will take place from 29 May to 2 June in all around Europe with the theme of ‘Green jobs for a greener future’, with a special focus on how EU environmental policies are creating green jobs and contributing to economic, sustainable and socially responsible growth in the EU. Besides, it will also highlight the demand for new types of green skills in many professional sectors.

Organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Environment, this key event in the environment policy calendar attracts policymakers, leading environmentalists, stakeholders and other interested parties from across Europe and the globe.
In addition to, the EU Green Summit will take place in Brussels on 30-31 May, the programme will also feature a series of partner events and actions taking place across Europe during the months of May and June. As well as being invited to take part in person, stakeholders and the general public are encouraged to become ‘virtually’ involved by participating in a wide range of on-line and social media activities.

Finnova foundation will participate in the Summit in Brussels and the networking session of the 31^st. From Brussels, Finnova will cover the high level event and inform about the most relevant issues and debates via Twitter.

The EU Green Summit of Brussels will gather many distinguished political figures  such as Karmenu Vella, Commissioner for Environment, Maritime Affairs & Fisheries, European Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis Vice-President of the European Commission, The Hon. José Herrera, Minister for Sustainable Development, the Environment and Climate Change of Malta, or Daniel Calleja Crespo, Director-General Directorate-General for Environment of the European Commission.

This year LIFE Programme will be very relevant since it is celebrating 25 years. The EU has been supporting nature, environment and climate action for 25 years and to celebrate this milestone there will be different session during the Summit.

A programme in which Finnova is familiar with since its team has more than 20 years of experience working in LIFE projects consortium. ECOBUS, HTWT,  Ecodiptera, TRAGAMOVIL , Enebro Marino or ECORRAE are some examples of  the most remarkable projects.

The total budget for subsidies in LIFE Programme 2017 is 373.000.000€ for all the environment and climate subprograms (so-called traditional projects).

Los empleos verdes llegan a Europa

La Semana Verde Europea 2017 tendrá lugar del 29 de mayo al 2 de junio en toda Europa con el tema « Empleos verdes para un futuro más verde », cuyo objetivo será destacar cómo las políticas medioambientales de la Unión Europea crean empleos verdes y contribuyen a la economía verde socialmente responsable. Además, también destacará la demanda de nuevos tipos de habilidades verdes en muchos sectores profesionales.

Organizado por la Dirección General de Medio Ambiente de la Comisión Europea, este es un  evento clave en el calendario de políticas medioambientales pues atrae a los responsables de la formulación de políticas, los principales expertos, partes interesadas de toda Europa y del resto del mundo.

Además, en este marco se celebrará la Cumbre Verde Europea en Bruselas los días 30 y 31 de mayo y se la Comisión invita a los países miembros a organizar eventos y acciones paralelas en Europa durante los meses de mayo y junio.

La Fundación Finnova participará en la conferencia de alto nivel de Bruselas y en la sesión de networking organizada el 31. Desde Bruselas, Finnova cubrirá el evento de alto nivel e informará sobre los temas y debates más relevantes a través de Twitter.

Este año el Programa LIFE será muy relevante ya que celebra 25 años. La UE ha estado apoyando la naturaleza, el medio ambiente y el clima durante 25 años y para celebrar este hito habrá diferentes sesiones informativas durante la conferencia.

LIFE es la herramienta de financiación para el medio ambiente por excelencia de Europa, en la que Finnova está muy familiarizado pues su equipo tiene más de 20 años de experiencia trabajando en el consorcio de proyectos LIFE. ECOBUS, HTWT, Ecodiptera, TRAGAMOVIL, Enebro Marino o ECORRAE son algunos ejemplos de los proyectos más notables.

El presupuesto total para subvenciones del Programa LIFE 2017 es de 373.000.000 € para todos los subprogramas medioambientales y climáticos (denominados proyectos tradicionales).

The Innovation and Networks Executive Agency of the European Commission has selected NOBEL GRID, in which Finnova is partner, to exhibit its tools and ICT services in the Eighth Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM8) in Beijing on 6–8 June.

Between more than 200 European projects just two were selected by the Commission to show the best smart grid innovations in Europe during the CEM8.

The annual meeting of energy ministers and other high-level delegates from the 24 member countries and the European Union will provide an opportunity to leverage high-level political will and private sector leadership to drive ambitious, real-world clean energy policies and actions.

“This is a great opportunity to spread all our developments achieved so far that provide advanced tools and ICT services to all actors in the Smart Grid and retail electricity making it making it more secure, stable, sustainable and clean. Specially, to present our work and achievements towards protection and empowerment of the European consumers and prosumers (households and businesses) on the energy transition”, explained Lola Alacreu, Coordinator of NOBEL GRID.

Between 7-8 June, visitors could find out NOBEL GRID project funded by Hoizon 2020 Programme at the “Technology Exhibition”, where the project will be exhibited at the booth BC23+24 of the European Commission.

The CEM8 aims to demonstrate and celebrate the “Revolution Now of rapidly decreasing costs and increasing deployment of clean energy technologies and the national and global value propositions of economic opportunity, health and welfare, and energy security of the transition to modern, clean, and efficient energy”, as organisers explain.

Besides the vision for the ministerial is to deepen and broaden government participation and leadership in the CEM forum to drive greater progress in the global clean energy transformation, strengthen action-oriented partnerships and collaborations and launch new, high-impact CEM campaigns that tap into globally relevant and timely clean energy areas and that encourage concrete commitments.

The Technology Exhibition will feature companies and projects from around the world demonstrating breakthrough clean energy technologies, products, and business models, as well as startups working to drive change in the clean energy sector and the worldwide economy in the years and decades to come.

In this regard, “NOBEL GRID is also presented as an innovation platform to drive new spin-off projects, SMEs and Startups to develop advanced tools and ICT services to all actors in the Smart Grids”, explains Juan Manuel Revuelta, General Director of Finnova.

The 4,300-square-meter exhibition will cover six key sectors, such as renewable energy, energy-efficient technologies and facilities, energy storage technologies and facilities, digital energy and smart grid, electric vehicles and related technologies and finance and business model innovation.

NOBEL GRID seleccionado para participar en la 8ª Conferencia Ministerial de Energía Limpia en China

La Agencia Ejecutiva de Innovación y Redes de la Comisión Europea ha seleccionado al proyecto NOBEL GRID, en el que Finnova es socio, para exponer sus herramientas y servicios TIC en la Octava Conferencia Ministerial de Energía Limpia (CEM8, en sus siglas en inglés) en Beijing del 6 al 8 de junio.

La Comisión Europea ha seleccionado sólo dos proyectos, entre más de 200, para mostrar las mejores innovaciones europeas en materia de redes eléctricas inteligentes durante la CEM8.

La reunión anual de ministros de energía y otros delegados de alto nivel de 24 países y la Unión Europea brindará la oportunidad de aprovechar la voluntad política y el liderazgo del sector privado para impulsar políticas y acciones ambiciosas y reales en materia de energía limpia.

« Esta es una gran oportunidad para difundir todos nuestros desarrollos logrados hasta el momento, los cuales proporcionan herramientas avanzadas y servicios TIC a todos los actores de las redes eléctricas inteligentes, haciéndola más segura, estable, sostenible y limpia. Y especialmente dar a conocer nuestro trabajo y logros para la protección y el empoderamiento de los consumidores y prosumidores europeos (hogares y empresas) en la transición energética « , explica Lola Alacreu, Coordinadora de NOBEL GRID.

Entre el 7 y el 8 de junio, los visitantes podrán conocer de primera mano el proyecto NOBEL GRID financiado por el programa Horizonte 2020 en el área de exposiciones de la Conferencia Ministerial, donde el proyecto se exhibirá en el stand BC23 + 24 de la Comisión Europea.

La conferencia pretende demostrar y celebrar la « revolución de la disminución de los costes energéticos y el aumento del despliegue de tecnologías limpias. Así como, destacar iniciativas que promueven la  transición a tecnologías modernas, limpias y eficientes que permitan ofrecer oportunidades de crecimiento y desarrollo, seguridad energética y mejora en la salud y bienestar de la ciudadanía”, como explican los organizadores de la conferencia.

Además, el evento pretende profundizar y ampliar la participación de gobiernos y líderes para  impulsar un mayor progreso en la transformación global de energía limpia, fortalecer las asociaciones y colaboraciones orientadas a la acción y lanzar nuevas campañas de alto impacto que promuevan compromisos concretos.

La Exposición de Tecnología, donde se encontrará NOBEL GRID, recogerá empresas y proyectos de todo el mundo con innovadoras tecnologías, productos y modelos de negocios del campo de la energía limpia, así como startups que impulsan el cambio en este sector de y la economía mundial de cara a las décadas venideras.

En este sentido, “NOBEL GRID también se presenta como un proyecto tractor para spin-offs, Pymes y Startups para desarrollar herramientas y servicios avanzados ara todos los actors de las redes eléctricas inteligentes”, señala Juan Manuel Revuelta, Director General de Finnova.

La exposición de 4.300 metros cuadrados abarcará seis sectores clave, como las energías renovables, las tecnologías e instalaciones de eficiencia energética, las tecnologías e instalaciones de almacenamiento de energía, la energía digital y la red inteligente, los vehículos eléctricos y la innovación en los modelos financieros y empresariales.

Bruselas, 23 de mayo de 2017. La jornada “Los retos del retorno del talento y de los Ayuntamientos ante la UE 2020” se ha celebrado en la sede de la Junta de Andalucía en Bruselas en el marco del programa Talentium Jaén, financiado por la Diputación Provincial de Jaén.

La jornada forma parte del proceso de mentorización de los 25 beneficiarios que disfrutan de la beca en la ciudad de Bruselas realizando prácticas en instituciones y empresas en distintos ámbitos, según su formación y aspiraciones, hasta el mes de septiembre de 2017.

La delegada de la Junta de Andalucía en Bruselas, Francisca Pleguezuelos Aguilar,  inauguró la jornada presentando la labor de la Junta, y dando a conocer las oportunidades para los jóvenes andaluces. “Contamos con muchas unidades de apoyo para la inserción laboral de los jóvenes en Europa” añadió la delegada.

Por su parte, el Jefe de Sección de Atención al Ciudadano de la Consejería de Empleo en Bruselas, José Luis Estébanez, presentó los Servicios de la Consejería de Empleo a los españoles en el extranjero y la página web en la que se puede encontrar toda la información necesaria para estar bien orientado. “Contamos con una guía práctica para vivir en Bélgica. Somos ciudadanos de la UE y contamos con unos derechos que no podemos olvidar”, ha asegurado.

La Jornada prosiguió con la ponencia de Alfonso Alcolea, del Comité Europeo de las Regiones. Su ponencia “Historia personal de una trayectoria: de stagiere, asistente en el Parlamento Europeo y Laureado a funcionario de la UE” no dejó indiferente a los asistentes. Una historia que reflejó la necesidad de crear nuestro propio perfil y profundizar en los verdaderos intereses. “Bruselas es una constelación humana y un gran centro de información que hemos de aprovechar”, apuntó Alcolea.

El director General de la Fundación Finnova, Juan Manuel Revuelta, continuó la jornada con el tema de las prácticas en Bruselas y la empleabilidad futura: “La UE cree en la movilidad y gracias a los programas internacionales se ha creado una dimensión de ciudadanía europea” aseguró Revuelta. “Para la próxima convocatoria de Talentium Jaén se realizarán pruebas orales y escritas del idioma para el acceso a la beca. Esto ha de ser un incentivo para mejorar ».

El Presidente de la Asociación de Españoles Funcionarios de las Instituciones Comunitarias Europeas, Joaquín Calvo, presentó en la jornada las posibilidades de prácticas, empleo y formación desde las Instituciones Europeas.

Para finalizar, se procedió a un turno de preguntas y se dieron consejos prácticos para hacer prácticas en las Instituciones, así como para trabajar en España en asuntos de la Unión Europea.

 Brussels, 23rd may 2017. The conference « The challenges of the return of talent and challenges of city councils for the EU 2020 » took place in the premises of the Delegation of La Junta de Andalucía in Brussels within the program Talentium Jaén, funded by Diputación de Jaén, the provincial government.

These series of lectures are part of the mentoring process of the 25 beneficiaries of the grant, who are working as trainees in different institutions and enterprises from different areas in the city of Brussels until September, 2007. Each young professional is offered a traineeship in their area of expertise to develop further attitudes in a real and European working context.

The delegate of Junta de Andalucía in Brussels, Francisca Pleguezuelos Aguilar, started the conference by presenting the duty of this institution in the European capital and providing the attendees with the information on the opportunities they will find in this European context. “We have many units that support the employability of young people in Europe” stated Francisca.

José Luis Estébanez, Head of Section for Citizen Assistance of the Spanish department of employment in Brussels, presented the services that this department offers to Spanish expatriates along with the webpage on which all the necessary information for a stage abroad could be found. “We have a practical guide to live in Belgium. We are all citizen of the European Union and we have some rights that we could not forget”, he assured.

The lectures went on with the presentation of Alfonso Alcolea, from the European Committee of the Regions. His lecture, « Personal Story of a Life-trajectory: from stagier and assistant in the European Parliament to laureate civil servant of the European Union », did not leave any of the assistants indifferent. His story reflected the need to create our own profile and to go further in our real interests. « Brussels is a human constellation and a great centre of information that’s why we have to make the most of it », claimed Alcolea.

The General Director of Finnova Foundation, Juan Manuel Revuelta, continued with the topic of traineeships in Brussels and the future employing profile: « The EU believes in the mobility, and thanks to the international programs, a dimension of European citizenship has been created” assured Revuelta. « In the next call of Talentium Jaén, there will be an oral and a written test on foreign language skills to access to the grant. It must be an incentive to be better « .

The President of the Spanish Civil Servant of the European Community Institutions Association, Joaquín Calvo, presented the possibilities of internships, employment and formation from the European Institutions.

At the end of the conference, there was question and answer session where practical advices to do traineeships in the Institutions as well as to get a job in Spain in matters of the European Union.

Yesterday, European Commissioner for Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Karmenu Vella, Adina-Ioana Valean, Chairwoman of the European Parliament’s Environment Committee, Karl-Heinz Lambertz, First Vice-President of the Committee of the Regions and Neil Kerr,  Deputy Permanent Representative of Malta signed a joint declaration proclaiming 21 May as the European Natura 2000 Day.  

 « With the European Natura 2000 Day we pay tribute to this unique network and its value for people and our economy. For me it is one of the European Union’s truly outstanding achievements: a network of over 27,000 protected sites, covering over 1 million square kilometres across the land and sea, made possible through the co-operation among all our Member States », Commissioner Karmenu Vella stated.

This celebration aims to raise environmental awareness through this network of 27,000 protected areas, representing 18% of the land area and 6% of the EU’s sea area.

The “European Natura 2000 day” is born thanks to the four years campaign leaded by SEO / BirdLife and News Agency EFE within the framework of the project Life Activa Red Natura 2000.

Besides, this year marks the 25th Anniversary of the LIFE programme and of the EU Habitats Directive, both approved on 21 May 1992.

 With the proclamation of the European Natura 2000 Day, the Commission has fulfilled its first pledge from the recent Action Plan for nature, people and the economy with the aim to improve communication and outreach, engaging citizens, stakeholders and communities.Already this year, hundreds of local events and networking activities across Europe will mark the day.

La UE celebra el primer « Día Europeo de la Red Natura 2000 »

Ayer, el Comisario de Medio Ambiente Karmenu Vella, Adina-Ioana Valean, Presidenta de la Comisión de Medio Ambiente del Parlamento Europeo, Karl-Heinz Lambertz, Primer Vicepresidente del Comité de las Regiones y Neil Kerr, Representante Permanente Adjunto de Malta firmaron una declaración conjunta proclamando el 21 de mayo como el Día Europeo de la Red Natura 2000.

« Con el Día Europeo de la Red Natura 2000 rendimos homenaje a esta red única y su valor para los europeos y nuestra economía. Para mí es uno de los logros más destacados de la Unión Europea: una red con más de 27.000 áreas protegidas que cubren más de 1 millón de kilómetros cuadrados en superficie terrestre y marítima, gracias a la cooperación de todos nuestros Estados miembros », declaró el Comisario Karmenu Vella.

Esta celebración pretende sensibilizar al medio ambiente a través de esta red de 27.000 áreas protegidas, que representan el 18% de la superficie terrestre y el 6% de la superficie marítima de la UE.

El « Día Europeo de la Red Natura 2000 » nace gracias a la campaña de cuatro años liderada por SEO / BirdLife y la Agencia de Noticias EFE en el marco del proyecto Life Activa Red Natura 2000.

Además, este año se conmemora el 25º aniversario del programa LIFE y de la Directiva Habitats, ambos aprobados el 21 de mayo de 1992.

Con la proclamación del Día Europeo de la Red Natura 2000, la Comisión ha cumplido su primer compromiso con el reciente Plan de Acción para la naturaleza, las personas y la economía con el fin de mejorar la comunicación y la divulgación, comprometiendo a los ciudadanos, las partes interesadas y las comunidades. Actualmente, ya están previstos cientos de eventos en toda Europa para esta celebración del 21 de mayo.

The agricultural sector is facing major challenges in terms of food security, climate change, water scarcity and energy demand. Upcoming digital and exponential technologies have the potential to disrupt today´s agriculture. This transformation will require concerted actions with an integrated systems approach to smoothly guide the transition to a digitized agriculture. The aim of Agriculture 4.0, Feeding the next generation, is to explore recent developments and future prospects in digitalization of agriculture and to discuss socio-economic impacts as well as the impact on agricultural research and Food 2030 through bringing key actors together. Furthermore, Agriculture 4.0 is a co-organisation of Agrolink Flanders and KATANA.

The event Agricultural 4.0 was yesterday, 11^th may at 9.00 a.m in VLEVA, Brussels. The conference was divided in two sessions, the first one called: “How will future farming look like?” and the second one: “Innovation in digitalization of agriculture”; furthermore, with panel discussion in the end of each session: “Socio-economic implications of disruptive technologies in future farming” and “How should agricultural research institutions cope with Agriculture 4.0”.

One of the most interesting speech of the event was “Food 2030” by Hans-Jörg Lutzeyer, Senior Policy Officer at DG Research and Innovation. The priorities of Food 2030 are: Nutrition for sustainable and healthy diets, climate smart and environmentally sustainable food systems, circularity and resource efficiency of food systems and innovation and empowerment of communities.

In the panel discussion they talked about the importance of Agriculture 4.0. Vesna Crnojevic, the co-funder of the BioSense Institute – Research and Development Institute for Information Technologies in Biosystems, said that: “The solution for the food production must be Agriculture 4.0 from now on”.

Raf De Vis, director of the Research Station for vegetable Production, supported the importance of keep data and on the need of platform and public corporation: “We need history to apply the models”.

Pascal Bergeret, Doctor in Agricultural Economics in Montpellier University, claimed that “The research can´t go on without the education” and also that “the electronic infrastructure must be open, available and sustainable” and especially, about the importance of the “Sustainability of data infrastructure”.
