Energy StartUp Europe Awards is looking for Country Managers, MEPs Ambassadors and Media Partners for 2017 edition

Brussels, 19th June, 2017. The Finnova Foundation, in the framework of the EU Sustainable Energy Week 2017 organised by the European Commission, launches the call for Energy Country Managers, Energy Ambassadors (Members of the European Parliament) and Energy Media Partners for Energy StartUp Europe Awards 2017.

Energy StartUp Europe Awards 2017 is looking for country managers, who can organise the energy award at national level in order to recognize the best Energy startup in their respective countries. The call is also open to Energy Media Partners, who could provide visibility and follow the progress of the participants, and for Energy Ambassadors, Members of the European Parliament who could provide institutional support and invite a group of Energy startups to visit EU institutions.

StartUp Europe Awards (SEUA) is an initiative of the European Commission and Finnova Foundation, supported by the President of the European Parliament, the President of the Committee of the Regions, the Vice-President of the Economic and Social Committee and several members from the European Parliament. SEUA is supported by the StartUp Europe Accelerator of the Finnova Foundation.

StartUp Europe Awards presents a prize methodology for startups at local, regional and national level that fosters the open innovation and the collaboration between the different actors of the European ecosystems, through the private-public partnership to support entrepreneurs. «Besides, it creates a network of contacts that will inspire and provided visibility to all the local startups so that, by using this network, they can scale their services and products at a global level», stated Juanma Revuelta, the Director of Finnova’s Startup Europe Accelerator.

Energy StartUp Europe Awards aims to reward the best initiatives working in projects related to the development of sustainable and efficient energy models, based on renewable energies, as well as the development and technology transfer in the area of renewable energies along with the best governance projects and citizenship participation in the development of renewable energies.

The winner for Energy category of the StartUp Europe Award 2016 European Final is Tespack, a Finish startup (based in Valencia, Spain) specialized in mobile energy, in the generation of energy on-the-go. By combining top-notch technology, solar and connectivity, they have created different Smart Wear for different activities. They have developed a new, innovative ultra-fast charging technology (3 times faster than Qualcomm) so it is possible to charge their new power bank full in 12 minutes only (to be launched in 2017).

The others finalists of the Startup Europe Awards 2016 in the Energy Category by countries were: SWIRL (Luxembourg), Jitiv (Poland), Tinja (Croatia), Smart Load Solutions (Estonia), UrbanVolt (Ireland) and Veranu (Italy).

StartUp Europe Awards recognizes the effort of the European startups in five levels (local, county, regional, national and European) in 18 categories for 2017: Creative, Energy, Fintech, Green, e-Health, IoT, Smart Cities, Social, Tourism, Water, Agritech, Legal, Space, Cibersecurity, Climate, Fashion, Edtech and Gastronomy.

SEUA17 offers 4 special recognitions this year: Best Public Administration for startups Award, for recognizing the effort of the public administrations in supporting entrepreneurship and innovation; Best Media Partner, to highlight the Media Partner most committed with the promotion of the initiative and the startups participating in the contest; Best LATAM StartUp and Best Female Entrepreneur.

European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) is a month-long series of activities to build a secure energy future for Europe. It brings together public authorities, private companies, NGOs and consumers to promote initiatives to save energy and move towards renewables for clean, secure and efficient power. Launched in 2006 by the European Commission, the EUSEW is organised by the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) in close cooperation with Directorate-General for Energy.

Energy StartUp Europe Awards busca responsables nacionales, miembros del parlamento europeo como embajadores y media partners para la edición de 2017

Bruselas, 19 de junio de 2017. La Fundación Finnova, en el marco de la Semana Europea de la Energía Sostenible 2017 organizada por la Comisión Europea, lanza la convocatoria para responsables nacionales en el ámbito de la energía, embajadores miembros del parlamento europeo y media partners especializados en este sector para los StartUp Europe Awards 2017.

Los Energy StartUp Europe Awards buscan responsables nacionales que organicen o estén interesados en organizar un concurso nacional para reconocer a la mejor startup de su respectivo país en la categoría de Energía. La convocatoria está abierta a medios de comunicación especializados en energía, que puedan dar visibilidad y seguir el progreso de las startups. Además, la convocatoria invita a Embajadores del sector energía, dirigido a Miembros del Parlamento Europeo que puedan dar apoyo institucional a los emprendedores y de acuerdo a su programación y presupuesto ofrecer la posibilidad de invitar a un grupo de startups del sector de la energía a visitar las instituciones europeas.

StartUp Europe Awards (SEUA) es una iniciativa de la Comisión Europea y la Fundación Finnova,  apoyada por el presidente del Parlamento Europeo, el presidente del Comité de las Regiones, el vicepresidente del Comité Económico y Social y miembros del Parlamento Europeo. SEUA es patrocinada por StartUp Europe Accelerator de la Fundacion Finnova.

StartUp Europe Awards  presenta una metodología de premios para startups  a nivel local, provincial, regional y nacional, impulsando la innovación abierta y la colaboración entre los diferentes actores de los ecosistemas europeos, a través del partenariado público – privado para apoyar a los emprendedores. “Además, crea una red de contactos que permite inspirar y visibilizar  a las startups locales para que a través de esta red puedan escalar sus servicios y productos a nivel global”, asegura el director de StartUp Europe Accelerator de Finnova, Juanma Revuelta.

Energy StartUp Europe Awards busca reconocer las mejores iniciativas que estén trabajando en el desarrollo de modelos de energía sostenibles y eficientes, basados en energías renovables, además en la transferencia de tecnología en esta área, y los mejores proyectos de gobernanza y participación ciudadana en el desarrollo de energías renovables.

El ganador de la final europea de 2016 de StartUp Europe Awards es Tespack, startup finlandesa, que opera desde Valencia, especializada en energía móvil y la generación de energía “on-the-go”. Combinando tecnologías de primera y conectividad, han creado diferentes prendas inteligentes para diversas actividades. Han desarrollado una nueva ultra rápida tecnología de carga (3 veces más rápida que Qualcomm) que permite cargar completamente su nueva batería en 12 minutos (su lanzamiento está previsto para este año).

SEUA17 ofrece 4 premios especiales este año: Mejor Administración Pública para startups, que reconoce  el esfuerzo de las administraciones públicas que apoyan el emprendimiento y la innovación; Mejor Media Partner, que elige al medio de comunicación más comprometido con la promoción de la iniciativa y las startups participantes; Mejor startup de LATAM y Mejor Mujer Emprendedora.

La Semana Europea de la Energía Sostenible (EUSEW) es una serie de actividades de un mes para construir un futuro energético seguro para Europa. Reúne a autoridades públicas, empresas privadas, ONG y consumidores para promover iniciativas para ahorrar energía y avanzar hacia las energías renovables limpias, seguras y eficientes. Lanzada en 2006 por la Comisión Europea, EUSEW está organizada por la Agencia Ejecutiva para las Pequeñas y Medianas Empresas (EASME) en estrecha colaboración con la Dirección General de Energía.
