Otherwise, FU-TOURISM has conducted a series of Open Days across Europe, culminating in December 2024. These events, held in Belgium, Poland, Greece, Croatia, Spain, and Austria, brought together tourism stakeholders to promote sustainability and digital transformation in the sector. The workshops highlighted the program’s mission to support 60 SMEs in adopting green and digital solutions, offering financial support, training, and mentorship.
Empowering SMEs to lead in tourism innovation
All countries have been a key focus of FU-TOURISM, with workshops and stakeholder meetings emphasizing the importance of empowering local businesses to adapt to the changing demands of the tourism industry. The program offers to SMEs a unique chance to innovate and lead in sustainability, providing tools and resources to enhance their competitiveness in the European market.
Participating SMEs will not only receive grants of up to €20,000 but will also gain access to tailored training and one-on-one mentorship from industry experts. This support is designed to guide businesses through their transformation, helping them implement sustainable practices and leverage digital tools to thrive in the evolving tourism landscape.
A European effort for a sustainable future
The FU-TOURISM Acceleration Program is part of a broader European effort to build a sustainable and digital tourism business ecosystem. Managed by a consortium of partners from seven countries, the project seeks to foster cross-border collaboration and innovation.
In addition to its support for SMEs, FU-TOURISM is also piloting strategic development in two destination management organizations (DMOs): Valencia, Spain, and Poreč-Parenzo, Croatia. These pilots aim to serve as best practice examples, demonstrating how sustainability and digitalization can transform tourism.
